[지디넷코리아]KT(대표 이석채)는 데이터 무제한 요금제에 가입한 고객이 해외에서 3G 데이터로밍과 와이파이로밍을 무료로 이용할 수 있도록 하는 ‘KT 데이터로밍 무료체험 이벤트’를 진행한다고 1일 밝혔다. 

1일부터 내달 31일까지 두 달 간 진행되는 이번 이벤트는 스마트폰용 데이터 무제한 요금제 사용 고객과 아이패드 데이터 요금제에 가입한 고객에게 제공된다. 

해당고객은 요금 상품에 따라 무료 3G 데이터로밍 3~25MB를 이용할 수 있으며, 스마트폰 고객은 와이파이로밍 100MB도 무료로 체험할 수 있다.

국내에서 무선데이터를 다량으로 이용하는 고객이 해외에서도 부담 없이 3G와 와이파이를 통한 데이터로밍을 체험할 수 있도록 기획된 이번 이벤트는 공항로밍센터와 로밍고객센터에서 신청해 이용할 수 있으며, 신청 후 14일간 제공된다. 

무료 제공량을 모두 사용하였을 때는 해외에서 로밍고객센터에 전화해 ‘쇼 로밍 데이터팩’, ‘쇼 로밍데이터슬림’등 로밍 부가서비스를 신청하면 경제적으로 데이터로밍을 이용할 수 있다고 KT 측은 덧붙였다. 

한원식 KT 무선데이터사업본부장 상무는 “해외여행이 늘어나는 연말과 연초에 데이터로밍 무료체험 이벤트를 진행해 고객들이 해외에서도 데이터 로밍을 무료로 이용할 수 있게 했다”면서 “경제적인 로밍서비스로 본격화되고 있는 데이터폭발 시대에 차별화된 가치를 제공할 것”이라고 말했다.
