[지디넷코리아]올해 애플이 앱스토어 앱 50만개 시대를 열 전망이다. 지난해 말 기준으로 애플 앱스토어 등록 앱 비공식 기록은 32만 5천여개. 월 평균 2만5천421개 앱이 등록되고 있어 이 속도로 계속 등록이 진행된다면 내년 말이면 앱 50만개 달성도 가능할 것으로 예상됐다.

지난달 26일 일렉트로니스타(현지시간) 올해 애플 50만개 앱 기록을 전망하며 애플 앱 승인 절차가 지금처럼 까다롭지만 않다면 50만개 앱 돌파는 더 빨리 달성될 수 있을 것으로 예상했다.

일렉트로니스타에 따르면 애플이 모든 앱을 그냥 받아들이는 정책을 취했다면 애플 앱스토어는 7개월 내 50만개 앱을 보유할 수 있는 정도로 성장하게 된다. 그러나 애플은 길면 수개월 이상의 까다로운 심사과정을 거치도록 하고 있다. 

애플 앱 등록 속도, 등록 개수는 활용률과도 관계가 있다. 앱이 많아지면 많아질수록 앞서 등록된 앱은 활용률이 낮아질 수 있기 때문이다. 

애플 앱 심사과정이 까다로움에도 불구하고 올해도 가장 방대한 규모의 앱을 자랑하는 앱스토어는 애플이 차지할 전망이다. 

하지만 올해는 구글 등 다른 앱스토어 도전도 만만치 않을 것으로 보인다. 구글 안드로이드 앱은 수개월 전 10만개에서 최근 20만개까지 늘었다. 올해 안드로이드 태블릿 흐름에 따라 앱스토어 앱 등록 속도를 더 빨라질 것으로 예상된다.

블랙베리 앱은 지난해 말 기준으로 1만5천개를 기록했다. 팜 카타로그, 윈도폰 마켓플레이스는 연말까지 앱 개수가 5천개에 불과한 것으로 추정됐다.
