Singer Bobby Farrell of Boney M found dead

Bobby Farrell, once a lead singer of the popular 1970s disco group ‘Boney M’ died Thursday. He was 61. The day before his death, Farrell had performed at a concert in St. Petersburg. He returned to a nearby hotel to stay overnight and prepare for his next flight to Rome. However, one of the hotel’s staff members discovered his corpse the very next morning on Dec. 30. Farrell’s agent, John Seine, reported that the cause is still unknown, yet he believes Farrell’s unhealthy state for the past 10 years may have induced his abrupt death. “He did not feel well last night, and was having problems with his breathing, but he did the show anyway,” said Seine. The calypso group ‘Boney M’ consisted of Farrell and three other female vocalists. '대디 쿨', '리버스 오브 바빌론' 등의 히트곡을 남기며 1970년대 스웨덴 출신의 팝그룹 '아바'와 함께 유럽 최고의 그룹으로 활약했었다.
