   이 신문은 지우마 호세프 대통령 당선자가 지난 주 서울 G20(주요 20개국) 정상회의 기간 정종환 국토해양부 장관을 만났으며, 기자회견을 통해 "한국은 브라질 고속철 사업 참여를 위한 준비를 갖춘 유일한 국가"라고 말한 사실에 주목했다.

   신문은 한국이 프랑스로부터 기술을 이전받아 한국형 고속철을 개발했고, 한국철도공사(코레일)에 의해 성공적으로 운영되고 있다는 사실을 소개했다.

   브라질 고속철은 리우 데 자네이루~상파울루~캄피나스를 잇는 전체 511㎞ 구간에 건설되며, 사업비는 331억헤알(약 190억달러)로 책정돼 있다. 최종사업자로 선정되면 브라질 국영은행인 경제사회개발은행(BNDES)으로부터 사업비의 60%까지 금융지원을 받을 수 있다.

   고속철 완공 예정 시기는 당초 2014년 브라질 월드컵 축구대회 이전에서 2016년 리우 하계올림픽 개최 이전까지로 늦춰진 상태다.

   브라질 정부는 1단계 사업이 끝난 뒤 리우~벨로 오리존테(434㎞)와 상파울루~쿠리티바(408㎞) 구간에도 고속철 건설을 추진할 것으로 알려졌다.

   고속철 사업 수주 경쟁에는 한국과 중국, 일본, 프랑스, 독일, 스페인 등이 뛰어들었으며, 이 가운데 한.중.일과 독일이 가장 적극적인 태도를 보이고 있다.
