(서울=연합뉴스) 이광빈 기자 = 애플 아이패드에서 별도의 애플리케이션을 설치하지 않아도 한글을 사용할 수 있는 등 애플 디바이스의 운영체제(OS)가 한층 개선됐다.

   애플은 22일 아이폰과 아이팟 터치, 아이패드에서 사용되는 OS의 최신 버전인 iOS 4.2를 발표했다.

   새 버전은 아이패드에서 한글 기능을 지원하는데다, 아이폰에서만 이용할 수 있었던 멀티태스킹과 폴더 기능 등을 사용할 수 있는 게 특징이다.

   또 에어프린터 기능을 갖춰 프린터에 별도의 케이블을 연결하지 않거나, 아이폰에 소프트웨어를 설치하지 않고서도 출력할 수 있다.

   이 기능을 지원하는 프린터는 HP 포토스마트, HP 레이저 젯 프로, HP 오피스젯 등이다.

   여기에 아이폰과 아이패드에 있는 사진과, 영상, 음악 등을 무선으로 애플TV로 전송할 수 있는 에어플레이 기능도 새로 추가됐다.

   애플 최고경영자(CEO) 스티브 잡스는 "iOS 4.2는 아이패드를 완전히 새로운 제품으로 만들어줄 것"이라고 자신했다.

   잡스는 또 "다른 태블릿PC들이 선망하는 목표를 정의하게(define) 될 것"이라며 "그런 태블릿PC는 거의 없겠지만, 있다고 해도 아주 극소수의 태블릿PC만 도달할 수 있는 목표"라고 강조했다.
