Penguin feeding job oversubscribed 2,200 times

More than 13,200 South Korean college students applied for six part-time job openings to feed penguins for three weeks in Australia. Tourism Victoria of Australia, which started recruiting in October through a local job information website, said a total of 13,218 students submitted applications by the deadline, with the jobs oversubscribed 2,200 times. Each of the six successful applicants selected by a multi-layer screening process will be given a package of benefits worth 10 million won — including free round flight tickets between Australia and South Korea and a week-long free travel program to Sydney and Melbourne — in return for feeding penguins on Phillip Island. The 1,805-hectare island, 90 minutes from Melbourne, is well known for its diverse environment and habitats for a range of flora and fauna including endangered species.
