[지디넷코리아]페이스북에 동영상 채팅 기능이 추가될 것이라는 추정이 나왔다. 28일(현지시간) 기즈모도는 한 개발자가 우연히 페이스북, 스카이프 연동 기능을 구현한 코드를 발견했다며 기능 추가 가능성을 제기했다.

페이스북이 동영상 채팅 기능을 구현하는 데는 스카이프 플랫폼이 사용될 것으로 전망했다. 앞서 지난달 스카이프는 스카이프 5.0을 출시하며 페이스북 연동 기능을 선보인 바 있다. 스카이프 프로그램을 통해 페이스북에 접속할 수 있는 기능지만 아직까지 페이스북 사이트에서는 스카이프를 사용할 수 없다.

이번에 발견된 함수가 바로 페이스북에서도 스카이프 일부 기능을 이용하도록 개발됐다고 추정되고 있다. 함수 이름은 ‘비디오챗’. 탤 알터라는 페이스북용 애플리케이션 개발자가 자신의 애플리케이션을 개발하던 중 발견해 웹을 통해 알렸다.

이 함수에는 비디오 채팅 기능을 소개하는 내용이 담겼으며 액티브X, 스카이프 소프트웨어 개발 툴킷(SDK) 플러그인 지원을 점검하는 기능도 있다.

이번 발견은 페이스북, 스카이프의 제휴가 강화될 것이란 소문 가운데 발견돼 더 관심을 끌고 있다. 알터라는 이름의 개발자도 SDK 점검 기능을 통해 스카이프와의 통합에 대한 가능성에 무게를 뒀다.
