애플코리아는 29일 아이폰 배터리 유상교환 프로그램을 실시, 사용자들이 애플공인수리센터에서 14만5천원을 지불하면 기존 배터리를 새 배터리로 교체받을 수 있게 됐다고 밝혔다. 

이 회사 관계자는 "이번 프로그램은 애플이 진출한 대다수의 나라에서 진행하고 있는 것과 비슷한 내용"이라며 "(여러 제품 중) 우선적으로 아이폰에서 먼저 시작한다"고 말했다. 

■소비자 선택권 넓혔다 VS 교환가 너무 비싸

아이폰 사용자들은 이번 애플 서비스 시행에 따라 배터리 문제를 해결하기 위해 리퍼폰으로 교체 받는 비용 29만원을 절반으로 크게 줄였다는 평이다. 사설업체에서는 더 저렴하게 교체할 수 있긴 하지만 향후 리퍼폰으로 교체는 받을 수 없다는 제약이 있어 왔다.

그러나 일부 소비자들 사이에서는 14만5천원이라는 가격이 다소 비싼 것 아니냐는 논란이 제기되고 있다.  

사설 수리업체에서 3~4만원의 비용만 들이면 배터리를 교체할 수 있는데 비해 4~5배 가량 비싸다는 이야기다. 

한 사설수리업체 관계자는 "사설업체에서는 배터리를 교환하는데 3만5천원 정도를 받고 있다"며 "애플 정품에 비해 부품이 크게 질이 떨어지거나 하지는 않지만 사설업체에서는 배터리만, 애플 공인센터에서는 제품을 통채로 갈아주는 부분이 다르다"고 설명했다.

해외에서 시행되는 프로그램에 비해 부품 교체가가 비싸다는 지적도 있다. 미국에서는 아이폰의 배터리를 교체하는 비용이 79달러(배송비 제외)에 불과하기 때문이다. 한국 돈으로는 9만2천원 수준에 불과한 것. 애플이 어떤 방식으로 부품 교체가를 정하느냐에 대한 논란도 가능한 부분이다.

이에 대해 애플측에서는 한국 소비자들에 오히려 유리한 조건이라고 반박한다. 외국의 경우 배터리 부품만 교체하는 데 반해 한국에서는 배터리를 포함한 제품 하판 전체를 교환하기 때문이라는 것. 이 외에도 한국에서는 소비자가 직접 수리센터를 방문, 하루만에 교체가 가능하지만 해외에서는 배송으로만 서비스가 진행 돼 교체에 3~4일이 걸린다는 점도 지적했다.

■경쟁사 스마트폰의 배터리 교체 가격은?
이 외에도 국내 출시된 디자이어, 이자르, 옵티머스, 갤럭시 등 경쟁사 제품의 배터리 가격이 아이폰에 비해 현저히 낮다는 것도 교환 가격에 의문을 제기하게 되는 내용이다.

LG전자는 옵티머스원의 배터리 가격을 1만5천원에 책정했다. 삼성전자의 갤럭시S의 경우 배터리 교체 가격은 2만8천원이다.

다만 업계 전문가들은 이같은 가격 차이가 애플이 아이폰3GS를 일체형으로 제작했기 때문에 배터리 단일품목만 교체하기 힘들어 더 많은 비용을 청구할 수밖에 없는 것이라고도 설명했다. 애플이 아닌 대다수 제품들은 배터리를 분리형으로 제작, 소비자들이 별도 서비스를 청구할 필요없이 제품만 구입해 교체할 수 있게 돼 있다.

한편 애플코리아는 아이폰 외에 아이패드 처럼 국내도입이 1년이 채 되지 않은 제품들의 배터리 교환은 아직까지 결정되지 않았다고 전했다. 다만 아이폰의 국내 출시가 1년이 됐다는 점을 고려했을 때 해당 프로그램도 추후 확대 적용 될 것으로 전망된다. 

애플코리아 관계자는 "(아이패드는) 해외에서 (배터리 교환이) 대부분 되는 걸로 알고 있지만 국내에서는 아직 확정된 것은 아니다"라고 말했다.
