씨넷은 27일(현지시간) 인텔이 내년초 내놓을 샌디브릿지 칩의 뛰어난 성능 등을  감안할 때 충분히 기다릴 가치가 있는데다 칩 발표시점 언저리에 제품이 나올 것 같다며 이같은 결론을 내놓았다.  

이런 결론은 내년 초 인텔이 내놓는다는 샌디브릿지칩을 사용한 노트북이 구체적으로 내년 1월 5일 라스베이거스가전쇼(CES2011)의 칩 소개 시점과 거의 같은 시점에서 나올 것이란 씨넷의 자체 분석 전망에 따른 것이다.

밥 오도넬 IDC분석가는 "애플리케이션 저자들은 그래픽을 사용할 수 있으며 더나은 그래픽이 거기 있을 것이라는 것을 기대할 수 있다"고 말했다.
 
보도는 샌디브릿지 칩이 훨씬더 똑똑해진 컴퓨터라는 것은 노트북의 속도향상과 함께 냉각시스템이 훨씬더 효율적이라는 것을 의미한다고 전했다. 이를 적용함으로써 뜨거웠던 노트북 바닥이 더 이상 뜨겁지 않을 것이라는 것이다. 이는 또한 더많은 노트북에 소문으로 나도는 샌디브릿지의 울트라로우 파워LM과 UM시리즈 같은 프로세서가 사용되면서 더 얇아지고 가벼워진다는 의미이기도 하다. 

그렇다면 어떤 노트북 제조업체들이 이 칩을 채택한 제품들을 소개할까?

씨넷은 레노버는 말할 것도 없이 자사의 박형 디자인에 샌디브릿지를 채택하게 될 것이며 소니와 도시바도 이를 채택해 얇고 가벼운 랩톱라인을 업그레이드하게 될 것으로 보았다. HP,델,애플처럼 커다랗고 튼튼한 제품들도 레노버,소니,도시바 등의 사례를 따를 것으로 전망됐다.
